Brief Store History:
Diebel’s Sportsmens Gallery was started by Fred Diebel in 1954 after serving his country in World War II. The original store, located in the Country Club Plaza, was a pipe and tobacco shop where Fred would make and repair pipes. The 70’s saw the first cigars in the 4 Diebel shops and a bold move into manufacturing Diebel’s own brand of pipe tobacco. In 1980, Diebel’s re-headquartered to 426 Ward Parkway, and at the bequest of his wife, expanded into men’s gifts in 1984. The Hawthorne Plaza store was opened in 1997. A family owned and operated business; Diebel’s has been a fixture in Kansas City for generations. Currently operated by son Curt Diebel, Diebel’s is always providing the highest quality service, cigars, pipes & tobacco and men's gifts in their 2 stores – as evidenced by their being voted Kansas City’s Best Cigar Shop in 2010.
